With the advancement of technology visually impaired people can experience using computers. A number of assistive technologies cater to people with visual impairment. If you are one of them you can opt for the following technologies.
The first thing you can go for is large key keyboards with 1” square keys. These keyboards come in different versions. If you already have a keyboard which you don’t want to replace you can choose high visibility keyboard stickers available in the market. These stickers are available in both upper and lower case.
Reading aids like video magnifiers can also help the visually impaired people to use computers. There is hand held magnifiers. You can also go for advance magnifiers that come with built-in flat panel monitors.
Assistive technology has not only helped the visually impaired people but also the blinds. They can use the computer by taking help of the Braille devices. It has given the blinds and visually impaired people same opportunities as everybody else.
